2nd Heighest Run chase in ODI History

16th of October 2013 is another historical day in world cricket. On this day India chase down the target of 359 against Australia and they succeed within 43.3 overs to mark the 2nd best run chase in the ODI history. Match was played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Top 5 batters scored quick fire fifties and put a huge total (359) against the home team.. Indian openers Rohith Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan gave India a solid start.

They scored 69 in first 10 mandatory power-play overs. First wicket felt at 176 on the board. It was Dhawan. He scored 95 runs in 86 balls. He hit 14 fours during his inning. Virath Kohli joins with Sharma and build the Indian inning. Kohli scored his first fifty runs in 27 balls. During there 2nd power play overs (Batting power-play) they scored 58 runs. Sharma got his 3rd ODI hundred in 102 balls. India passes 300 in 38.6 overs. Kohli reached to his 16th century in 52 balls (8x4, 7x6).  Man of the match is Rohith Sharma

Highest run chase in ODI history record holds by Team South Africa. Unfortunately the opposition team again is Australia. Match played at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. Batting first Australia made 434 runs. South Africa chased down that target in 49.5 overs. Herschelle Gibbs scored 175 in 142 balls.

This is the first time that team scored 400 runs in an ODI (Inning) and South Africa is the only team that succeeds with chasing a target of more than 400 runs. Sri Lanka is the only other country that chases down the target over 400 but they lost to India by 3 runs.
